Nother fun title to work on (A)

Been a huge roller coaster fan ever since I rode the Viper at Magic Mountain maybe 20 years ago. Since then I've been to most major theme parks in the US logging in over 200 different coasters. So definitely was a big fan of the original Chris Sawyer PC titles RCT1 and RCT2. I never got into 3 as much because my (then) computer couldn't handle it.
At any rate, fortune would smile on me that I was able to work on the next iteration of the franchise.
Almost everything you hear was recorded originally for the title. I spent hours tracking coasters sure, but they are only a portion of the sights and sounds in a theme park. Lots of stationery rides and attractions like Ferris wheels, scramblers, haunted houses, and arcades.
Another point of pride for me was working with the Atari license. n-Space developed a lot of Atari classic game themed rides. Each one based on a specific Atari video game. So I sampled a lot of Atari games and layered them in a lot of the rides and attractions, so be on the lookout for some well known sound effects from the past lurking around, blipping and bleeping it up.

RollerCoaster Tycoon had music?

It's not very memorable but the previous titles had some musical cues, mostly coming from rides and attractions themselves. RCT3 did have a bit of a funk jazz thing going on, so we launched off of that and settled on more soothing jazztronica. It only plays when you are zoomed far away as not to distract you when you are busy tweaking and fiddling. I might post a montage of some of the tracks I wrote soon.
